Séminaire : “The electric power microgrid: A technology whose time has come!”

Dr. Sid Suryanarayanan is an associate professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Colorado State University (CSU). He has co-authored over 100 technical publications and delivered over 60 invited lectures internationally. He is currently a visiting professor at the Université de Technologie Belfort-Montbéliard, on a sabbatical leave from CSU.

In this technical talk delivered in English, we will define an electric power microgrid, look at the history of this concept and the current market situation for this technology. Further, we will discuss its performance during some dire situations such as the Great East Japan Earthquake (2011) and the Superstorm Sandy in the US (2012). Finally, we will conclude with some thoughts on contemporary research needs in this area.
